Completed the election of the district football association in a festive atmosphere

The polling of Cox’s Bazar District Football Association’s four-year executive council took place in a very peaceful and festive atmosphere at the Rubber Bagan Rest House on the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong  Highway under Ramu Upazila on Thursday. Polling  goes on from 10 am to 2 pm non-stop.

Fazlul Karim Sayedee, who is leading the Sayedee-Helal-Shoaib panel, has been elected as the president with 19 votes. He is the chairman of Chakaria Upazila Parishad and the current chairman of Cox’s Bazar District Football Association.
Sayedee’s closest rival was K. M Rashed Hossain Nannu who led the Nannu-Jahed- Farhad  panel. He got 17 votes and the difference between the winning candidate and the defeated candidate for the post of president is only 1 vote.
The two candidates for the post of vice-president have also been elected from the Sayedee-led panel. They are Shoaib Iftekar Chowdhury elected with 21 votes and Helal Uddin Kabir elected with 20 votes. Among the winning candidates, Md. Jahed Ullah of the panel led by Nannu got 17 votes and Farhaduzzaman got 15 votes. Vice-presidential candidate Shoaib Iftikhar Chowdhury got highest 21 votes in this election .
Masud Alam of Sayedee’s panel has also been elected as treasurer. He got 20 votes. The defeated candidate Ismail Jahed from Nannur panel got 18 votes for the post of treasurer.
A total of 16 candidates from the two panels competed for a total of 9 posts. Among them, Jyotismoy Barua of Nannu’s panel was elected with maximum 20 votes and nine member candidates got 19 votes  respectively for the post of member. The Nine members are Sayedee’s panel (6 members) Siddique Ahmed, Khorshed Alam, Khaleda Jasmine, Khaled Mohammad Azam (Biplob), Wahid Murad Sumon and Mohammad Khaled Hossain,on the other hand, Nannur panel (3 members) Subir Barua Bulu, Md. Rashid Ansari and Md. Kashem Ansari. The thirteen -member executive council has nine (9) post of members.  Here 9 people have been elected. Out of 9 people who got 19 votes, 8 people will be able to represent in the council and One has to leave. The Bangladesh Football Federation, the country’s governing body for football, will provide a solution to this complex issue.
On the other hand, among the winners of the membership, M.M Shahjahan got 16 votes, Nurul Abchar 16, Abdullah Al Mamun Shaheen 18, Ziaur Rahman 18, Shafiul Alam 18, Syed Karim 13, Supan Barua Shipon 18 and Khorshed Alam 18 votes.
The total number of voters in the election was 38 and   among of these, 37 voters exercised their franchise. Voter A, S, M Shahjahan did not exercise his franchise. He was also a member of Sayedee’s panel.
The polling  was scheduled on Wednesday in 18 November 2021. But due to the court’s ban, the Election Commission declared the election postponed and issued a notification. Later on Wednesday (November 18), the senior assistant judge of the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Court ordered the suspension of the ban on voting in the election. This order removes all legal barriers to voting in elections. Following the court order, the Election Commission completed the polling on Thursday (November 18).
Md Khorshed Alam, Chief Election Commissioner, District Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary, Daily Rupsigram Editor, Assistant Election Commissioner Farhad Iqbal and Jamir Hossain signed the election results that is published in mass media.
